one problem i see is that you are still using IE.
more seriously, i am using a particular javascript that splits up email address and rejoins them to prevent spammers from harvesting our addresses. I don't experience the problem in Firefox, and when I try it in my work computer's IE 7 it only pops up one other window besides the mail client window.
if you don't have a mail client setup or your browser to point to your gmail or something, this could be more of a problem.
